Whalsay Light
After saying in my last post that birdwatchers in Shetland were having a poor time of it, a Veery – an American bird which is a very rare vagrant in Europe – turned up in Whalsay yesterday (and another in Foula). I was fortunate to get an unexpected outing to Whalsay this afternoon courtesy of Larry. I enjoyed a brief view of the bird, but didn’t get any photos.
Whilst eagle eyes were kept on the bush the Veery was hiding under, I spotted and quickly snapped this distant rainbow behind the navigation light on Wether Holm.
