Puffin Mystery
The Puffins at Sumburgh Head - where I photographed this Puffin earlier in the summer - have the bird-boffins baffled. Apparently the Puffins departed the cliffs at the end of July, which is earlier than normal. They then made a surprise return a week later. See the story on the Shetland Times website: 'Mystery of Sumburgh Head Puffins'
It's heartening to hear that the Puffins, as well as other seabirds, have had their best breeding season in years.
