McEwan’s Shillings
A view of Bristo Square, in the shadow of Edinburgh University’s ostentatious McEwan Hall. Built in the Italian Renaissance style by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson between 1888 & 1897 and funded to the tune of £115,000 by the successful brewer William McEwan. How ironic that beer funded such a great university building! It’s used for exams, graduations, public lectures and I believe the occasional ceilidh.
As you can guess I’ve returned to the law books in Edinburgh - back from my holiday in Ireland - photos of that to come!
