The squad’s pennants were emblazoned Beinir Sigmundsson, for the character the Jarl chose to portray - a 10th-century Faroese chieftain from the Færeyinga saga.
The squad’s purple cloaks and pennants appear redder in later photos, due to the light cast from the fire of the burning torches and galley.
